Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Picks – Week 15 (Jan 12–18, 2026)
Week 15 is a good time to focus on startable-volume.
This slate will punish you for chasing “4 games” if those games land on the wrong nights. The goal isn’t total games — it’s games you can actually start.
This week is about:
- Off-night leverage
- Startable games (not bench games)
- Avoiding Saturday congestion
The schedule reality (what actually matters)
Here’s the exact slate map for Week 15:
- Mon (Jan 12): 9 games (heavy)
- Tue (Jan 13): 10 games (heavy)
- Wed (Jan 14): 4 games (extremely light)
- Thu (Jan 15): 10 games (heavy)
- Fri (Jan 16): 5 games (light)
- Sat (Jan 17): 13 games (heaviest)
- Sun (Jan 18): 3 games (ultra light)
Translation:
If you don’t build around Wed/Fri/Sun, you’ll waste roster moves on bench games.
Quick Jumpstart (attack the light slates)
The off-night targets: Wed / Fri / Sun
Wed (4 games): BUF, LAK, NJD, NYR, OTT, PHI, SEA, VGK
Fri (5 games): ANA, CAR, COL, DET, FLA, LAK, NSH, SJS, STL, TBL
Sun (3 games): DAL, DET, EDM, OTT, STL, TBL
If a team shows up on 2 of these nights, it becomes a priority stream target immediately.
The only thing we’re chasing: startable volume
Tier 0 — No “perfect” off-night schedule this week
Unlike Week 14, there’s no team that hits all three off-night slates (Wed/Fri/Sun).
So the edge comes from stacking teams that hit two off-nights, then filling in with clean volume.
Tier 1 — Best schedule shape (hit 2 off-nights)
These are the teams that give you the cleanest “startable games” profile:
- Detroit (DET) — Fri / Sun (4 GP total)
- Los Angeles (LAK) — Wed / Fri (4 GP total)
- Ottawa (OTT) — Wed / Sun (4 GP total)
- St. Louis (STL) — Fri / Sun (3 GP total)
- Tampa Bay (TBL) — Fri / Sun (4 GP total)
If you’re streaming to win a matchup, these are the schedules that actually play.
Tier 2 — The volume king (but not “clean”)
- Edmonton (EDM) — 5 games (only team with 5 GP)
Edmonton is the only true volume hammer this week. The schedule is not perfectly clean (because this week is not clean for anyone), but 5 games is 5 games — and the Sunday (3-game slate) appearance matters.
Tier 3 — Single off-night teams (useful specialists)
These teams only hit one of the big off-night slates, but can still be excellent if you’re streaming for specific categories:
- Wednesday only: BUF, NJD, NYR, PHI, SEA, VGK
- Friday only: ANA, CAR, COL, FLA, NSH, SJS
- Sunday only: DAL
Trap alert: teams with zero off-night games
These teams do not play on Wed/Fri/Sun at all:
- BOS, CBJ, CGY, CHI, MIN, MTL, NYI, PIT, TOR, UTM, VAN, WPG, WSH
Streaming from these teams usually means bench games into Tue/Thu/Sat congestion.
The only true schedule fades
Colorado (COL) — 2 games
San Jose (SJS) — 2 games
These are the only teams on a 2-game week. Even if you love the player, it’s hard to justify streaming them unless you’re covering a very specific category need or you’re protecting an early lead and just need minimal appearances.
Player Pickups
Detroit Red Wings
RW Patrick Kane — Kane has been scoring at a respectable rate this season and remains a constant threat on the power play. He’s averaging just under three shots per game, giving him a usable shot floor to go with his offensive upside.
D Simon Edvinsson — Edvinsson is quietly providing strong peripheral value, averaging nearly two blocks per game while also contributing a steady floor of shots and hits.
D Ben Chiarot — A true banger-league staple. Chiarot is averaging over two hits and two blocks per game, while also taking close to one penalty minute per outing.
Los Angeles Kings
D Drew Doughty — Doughty is averaging over 1.5 shots per game and more than a block per night. While the point production hasn’t fully clicked yet, the opportunity is still there.
D Brandt Clarke — Clarke continues to be a strong all-around defense option, averaging nearly two shots per game and over 1.5 blocks, while still chipping in on the scoresheet.
LW/RW Alex Laferriere — Laferriere brings one of the better category blends available: almost 2.5 shots per game, over 2.5 hits, and close to half a point per game.
Ottawa Senators
D Thomas Chabot — Chabot is averaging over half a point per game while contributing nearly two blocks per night, making him a strong offense-plus-peripherals option from the blue line.
C Dylan Cozens — Cozens has been a power-play weapon, averaging nearly 0.5 power-play points per game, along with almost 2.5 shots and close to three hits per night.
C Shane Pinto — Pinto is averaging over half a point per game with more than two shots per night. Even with some recent cooling, he remains a solid streaming option.
St. Louis Blues
RW Jordan Kyrou — Kyrou is averaging almost 2.5 shots per game and around half a point per night, making him a clean offense-focused add.
D Colton Parayko — A standout blocks specialist, Parayko is averaging just under 2.5 blocks per game and can anchor the BLK category on his own.
LW/RW Jake Neighbours — Neighbours offers a useful banger profile with about half a point per game, nearly 1.5 shots, and over 2.5 hits per night.
Tampa Bay Lightning
C Anthony Cirelli — Cirelli is averaging just under two shots per game and around 0.65 points per night, offering steady offense without volatility.
D Erik Černák — Černák delivers exactly what you want from a streaming defenseman: over two hits, over two blocks, and more than one penalty minute per game.
Edmonton Oilers
D Mattias Ekholm — Ekholm provides a stable category floor, averaging nearly two shots and around 1.5 blocks per game.
D Jake Walman (IR) — Walman is currently on IR, hoping to return shortly. When healthy he averages almost 1.5 shots, nearly two blocks, and over 0.5 points per game. With Edmonton playing five games, he’s worth monitoring closely.
C/RW Jack Roslovic — Roslovic has cooled slightly but is still averaging around 0.7 points per game with over two shots per night, keeping him firmly in the streaming mix.
How to build your Week 15 stream plan
- Start with the Tier 1 schedules (DET / LAK / OTT / STL / TBL)
- Use Edmonton as the volume swing if your roster can actually start the games
- Treat Saturday as a trap — streams that rely on Saturday are usually wasted
- Avoid zero off-night teams for streaming unless you have a very specific reason
Closing Notes
- Wed (4 games), Fri (5), Sun (3) are the week-winning slates
- Saturday (13 games) is the benching trap
- EDM is the only 5-game team
- COL and SJS are the only true fades (2 games)
- Build your adds around startability, not “games played”
