Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Picks – Week 14 (2026)

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Picks – Week 14 (Jan 5–11, 2026)
Week 14 is an off-night specialist week.
This is the kind of slate where “4 games” doesn’t automatically mean value — because if those games land on Tue/Thu/Sat, you’ll bench more than you think.
This week is about:
- Off-night leverage
- Startable games (not bench games)
- Targeting Fri (3 games) like it’s a cheat code
The schedule reality (what actually matters)
Here’s the exact slate map for Week 14:
- Mon (Jan 5): 5 games (light)
- Tue (Jan 6): 10 games (heavy)
- Wed (Jan 7): 5 games (light)
- Thu (Jan 8): 12 games (heavy)
- Fri (Jan 9): 3 games (extremely light)
- Sat (Jan 10): 14 games (heaviest)
- Sun (Jan 11): 5 games (light)
Translation:
Most teams will cause benching on Tue/Thu/Sat — especially Saturday (14 games).
If you want your streams to actually count, you build around Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun.
Quick Jumpstart (attack the light slates)
The off-night targets: Mon / Wed / Fri / Sun
- Mon: ANA, CGY, DET, LAK, MIN, NYR, OTT, SEA, UTM, WSH
- Wed: CGY, CHI, DAL, LAK, MTL, OTT, SJS, STL, UTM, WSH
- Fri: CHI, LAK, STL, UTM, WPG, WSH
- Sun: BOS, CBJ, NJD, NSH, PIT, SJS, UTM, VGK, WPG, WSH
If a team shows up on 2+ of these nights, it’s automatically a priority stream target.
If a team plays Friday, it gets bumped up a tier immediately.
The only thing we’re chasing: startable volume
Tier 0 — The Week 14 cheat code (perfect off-night schedules)
Two teams play all four off-night slates:
- Washington Capitals (WSH) — Mon / Wed / Fri / Sun
- Utah Mammoth (UTM) — Mon / Wed / Fri / Sun
That’s the cleanest schedule shape you can get:
- No wasted Saturday-only streams
- No heavy-night congestion
- Maximum startability
Tier 1 — Best 4-game teams (volume + off-night access)
- Los Angeles Kings (LAK) — Mon / Wed / Fri / Sat
- Winnipeg Jets (WPG) — Tue / Thu / Fri / Sun
- Calgary Flames (CGY) — Mon / Wed / Thu / Sat
- Ottawa Senators (OTT) — Mon / Wed / Thu / Sat
- San Jose Sharks (SJS) — Tue / Wed / Sat / Sun
Trap alert: teams with zero off-night games
These teams do not play on Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun:
- BUF, CAR, COL, EDM, FLA, NYI, PHI, TOR, VAN
- TBL also fits this problem and only plays twice
Streaming from these teams usually means bench games this week.
The only true “fade” schedule
Tampa Bay Lightning (TBL) — Tue / Sat (2 games)
- Only 2 games
- Both on heavy nights
- Almost zero streaming value unless the player is a locked-in star
How to build your Week 14 stream plan
- Start with WSH or UTM
- Prioritize Friday
- Treat Saturday as a trap
- Avoid zero off-night teams for streaming
Player Picks
Washington Capitals (4 GP — Mon / Wed / Fri / Sun)
RW Ryan Leonard — Leonard has been averaging over two shots per game this season, while adding over 1.3 hits and chipping in points with a sprinkle of power-play production. A strong fit in category leagues where you want a shot floor with some physicality layered in.
C/LW Connor McMichael — McMichael is sitting around two shots per game, and while he hasn’t been scoring at the same pace as last year, the opportunities are still there. A solid add when you want a stable shot base with legitimate upside to heat up.
D Matt Roy — A dependable multi-cat defense option with a nice floor in shots, hits, and blocks, with the profile leaning most heavily toward blocks. If you’re protecting or chasing BLK, he’s a clean stream.
D Martin Fehérváry — Another strong peripheral-floor defender. Fehérváry can help across shots, hits, and blocks, and like Roy, the real category weight is usually in blocks.
D Rasmus Sandin — Sandin offers a similar “quiet value” stream: a usable baseline in shots/hits/blocks, with blocks being the most bankable contribution. If you need help stabilizing your matchup categories, he fits.
Utah Mammoth (4 GP — Mon / Wed / Fri / Sun)
D Sean Durzi — Durzi brings a strong two-way fantasy profile: nearly two shots per game and just over two blocks per game. He’s also been known to collect penalty minutes, and in the right situation he can contribute points. A great add when you want category coverage without sacrificing upside.
C/LW Jack McBain — A classic banger-league streamer: over a shot per game, over three hits per game, and can add penalty minutes. If your matchup is trending physical, McBain is one of the fastest ways to add volume.
D Ian Cole — Reliable “glue” defenseman who helps where most streamers actually matter: over a hit per game and over two blocks per game. If you’re trying to win HIT/BLK without needing offense, Cole is a clean plug-and-play.
Los Angeles Kings (4 GP — Mon / Wed / Fri / Sat)
D Drew Doughty — Doughty hasn’t played up to his usual standard this season, but he can still collect shots and blocks, and the path to points is always there if he gets rolling. A reasonable add if you want a little upside without punting peripherals.
D Brandt Clarke — Clarke is averaging nearly two shots per game with over 1.5 blocks, and he’s been adding some offense as well. Great fit when you want a defense stream that isn’t just a pure blocks specialist.
RW Alex Laferriere — Laferriere has been producing points, but the real selling point is the category profile: almost 2.5 shots per game and over 2.8 hits per game this season. That’s the kind of shot/hit mix that can swing a week.
Winnipeg Jets (4 GP — Tue / Thu / Fri / Sun)
D Neal Pionk — If available, Pionk is an excellent all-around category add: over two shots, over two hits, and around 1.5 blocks per game, with about half a penalty minute mixed in. A rare defense stream that touches everything.
D Logan Stanley — Stanley brings a banger-friendly blend: over a shot, over a block, and over 1.5 hits per game, while posting around two PIM per night. If you’re chasing HIT/PIM with some BLK support, he’s a strong specialist.
D Dylan DeMelo — A steady floor play for peripherals, averaging roughly 1.5 hits and 1.5 blocks per game. Not flashy, but very useful if you just need stable category padding.
Calgary Flames (4 GP — Mon / Wed / Thu / Sat)
C/LW/RW Blake Coleman — Coleman is a shots-and-hits machine who can also provide scoring. Great target when you want a category floor with real “points can happen” upside.
C/LW Jonathan Huberdeau — Huberdeau is averaging over 1.5 shots per game and just over half a point per game. If you need power-play points, he can be the spark that flips that category.
RW Matt Coronato — Coronato is averaging around 2.5 shots per game and over half a point per game. Strong add if you’re chasing offense but still want a legit shot floor.
RW Adam Klapka — Pure banger-league weapon: nearly 3.5 hits per game and almost two PIM per night. If you need to bully your way through HIT/PIM, he’s the specialist to consider.
Ottawa Senators (4 GP — Mon / Wed / Thu / Sat)
C Dylan Cozens — Cozens is averaging nearly three hits per game while providing over two shots, and he’s been piling up power-play points. If you want a rare combo of SHOTS + HITS + PPP from a center, he’s a premium streamer profile.
C Shane Pinto — Pinto got off to a strong start this season, and the category base is there: over two shots per game and about a hit per night, with real scoring upside. A clean add when you want offense without sacrificing shot volume.
D Artem Zub — Zub is “rounding out the matchup” category glue: a steady floor in shots, hits, and blocks. If you’re trying to stabilize multiple categories at once, he’s one of the safer defense streams.
San Jose Sharks (4 GP — Tue / Wed / Sat / Sun)
LW/RW William Eklund — Eklund is averaging over 2.5 shots per game while producing consistent points on the power play. Strong add if you need offensive categories (SOG/PPP/PTS) without taking a zero in shots.
D John Klingberg — A bit of a revival season in San Jose: over 1.5 shots per game and around a block per game, while finding ways to put pucks in the net. If you want an offense-leaning defense stream, Klingberg is the upside swing.
LW Igor Chernyshov — Chernyshov has been scorching since joining the Sharks, averaging over a point per game while shooting over twice a night. If he’s on your wire, he’s the type of “ride the heater” add that can win you the week.
D Mario Ferraro — The category-floor workhorse: over a shot, nearly two hits, and over two blocks per game. If your matchup is about HIT/BLK volume, Ferraro is one of the better defense streams in this entire post.
Chicago Blackhawks (3 GP — Wed / Fri / Sun)
LW/RW Tyler Bertuzzi — Bertuzzi is averaging over half a goal per game, contributing consistently on the power play, and firing over two shots per night. If you’re chasing goals or PPP, he’s a strong 3-game schedule fit.
C/LW Colton Dach — A pure banger add: over 3.5 hits per game and over a penalty minute per night. If your matchup is trending physical, Dach can swing HIT/PIM with one roster spot.
St. Louis Blues (3 GP — Wed / Fri / Sun)
D Justin Faulk — A reliable defense stream when you want simple, bankable output: almost two blocks and about two shots per game. Great for stabilizing BLK without punting SOG.
LW/RW Jake Neighbours — Neighbours brings a useful physical floor: around 1.5 shots per game and 2.3 hits per game. A strong add when you want hits without fully sacrificing shots.
Closing Notes
- WSH + UTM are the schedule kings
- Friday (3 games) is the biggest edge
- LAK is the best Tier 1 stream
- Avoid chasing “4 games” that land on Tue/Thu/Sat
- TBL is the only true schedule fade
